He serves. In the 10 years he has been behind the wheels now, he has brought music lovers from Amsterdam to the Caribean in a musical flow with his sexy and uplifting house sounds and exciting live-shows.
17-year-old D-Rashid is following the footsteps of his musical heroes Todd Terry, Kenny “Dope” Gonzalez and dj Spin and does his first dj gig. Making women dance, men follow automatically, that's his challenge.
Because of his South American rhythms and house, D-Rashid formed a standard for latin house in Holland- a genre that 10 years later still is very popular. A good example for this fact, are the successful party's D-Rashid is a part of. Latin Village, for example, is one of the biggest house oriented festivals in Holland, and is created by using D-Rashid's style as a muse for its concept.
OK… Fast forward to 2009. D-Rashid keeps on developing his skills and keeps looking for new sounds, ideas and styles. His Brutal project, which he presented at Latin Village is a smashing hit. Brutal is night full of entertainment. This is a mix of house with live percussion and a steaming on stage act; ‘the professional Capoeira fighters of Grupo Capoeira Brazil’.
Nowadays he is a resident at Latin Village, Franchise and Nope is Dope, he has spinned at every well known dance festival in Holland, works together with Dance4Life and regularly has gigs abroad from France to the Caribean. Besides this, Rashid mixes the different sounds and styles that he gets in touch with and creates his own sound. He makes remixes, mix cds, and his own tracks.
With great, such as “we run this” and “Tarzan” in cooperation with Kid Kaio on Sidney Samson's label “Samsobeats”, Dinda on the G-rex label in cooperation with Lilina Viera, D-Rashid keeps his fans begging for a releasedate. There are lots of other new tracks coming up in 2010! February gives ‘Cancion del Mariachi’, April gives us another cooperation with Kaio ft. M.C. Crown called “In The zone”. To top this, the track ‘Tokyo’ is shown on the Dance4Life CD. ‘Tokyo’ seems a successful project together with Partysquad & Kid Kaio.
Nowadays, he has evolved into a dj that performs as a house dj with uplifting house sounds and cannot be defined solely as a latin house dj. He just simply isn’t to be categorized into one style. As Rashid says: ,,I am here to entertain, I love it when people react to the music that I like as well”. That is the definition of a great dj!

Bassjackers Bassjackers aka Marlon Flohr and Ralph van Hilst had not foreseen what was coming when they started out with their collaboration. Marlon was already Dj-ing for a while and Ralph experimented a lot with making different kinds of dance music. The first track they were both satisfied with was “Beat Cut”. They also were the ones responsible for the Quintino remix of “Rap das armas”, which they co-produced together with Quintino. Bassjackers penetrated the house scene with their productions in a short period of time! From Roger Sanchez to Chuckie, from Laidback Luke to Mark Knight, everybody has some Bassjackers secret weapons in their repertoire, ready to blow up the dance floor. Mauri DJ Mauri is recognized as one of the leading and most requested salsa DJs in Europe’s enormous salsa community. His DJ-career began in 1996, since then, his DJ career has sky rocketed to include being the head DJ of some of the biggest-salsa parties in Holland. DJ Mauri's style varies from New York Salsa-Dura to Cuban Timba and 50's and 60's Mambo but he is equally comfortable playing other genres. His signature is his amazing ability to read the crowd, knowing when to play the right salsa grooves and when to switch it up to other genres to keep the crowd pleased and entertained. Manga DJ Manga was born and raised in the far North. Through his musical family he was exposed to very diverse music styles at a young age, with the emphasis on Soul, Disco, Pop and Rock. From this background Manga developed his own All Round style which varies from Hip Hop to House, interspersed with Broken Beats, Classics, Pop and R&B. His unique style is regarded as Warm, Sexy, Soulful and Refreshing. "Performing is not a daily routine for me, but a way to share and express my love for music. Every time I see people dancing and enjoying my music it moves me." Manga started playing in Groningen, these sessions made such a strong impact, that he was soon asked to perform in the bigger and more popular clubs in Amsterdam. Manga became a resident DJ at Bassline (roxy). From there his career soon took off. |
